"Greensand WS1 Iron Filter 1.5 Cubic Foot: includes 1 inch by-pass valve; 1.5 cubic feet of Greensand-Plus Iron Filter Media, Clack WS1 backwash control valve, and Clack potassium permanganate solution tank. All the filter media you need for the system is included. Greensand iron filters are an excellent method of removing high levels of iron, manganese and hydrogen sulfide from well waters. Iron and manganese are oxidized and precipitated instantly by contact with the greensand media. The system automatically backwashes and cleans the greensand filter media using potassium permanganate which is easily added on a regular basis to the potassium permanganate solution tank. Raw water pH should be 6.8 or greater for best performance although it will work down to a pH of 6.5. Chlorine can be fed ahead of the iron filter to increase performance. Filter tank is NSF certified one piece seamless polyester construction for long life. Max pressure recommended is 100 psi. Maximum water temperature recommended 100F. Rugged heavy-duty Clack WS1 backwash backwash control valve features fully adjustable backwash and rinse cycles saving water and allowing maximized performance. Time-tested heavy-duty Clack control valve provides years of trouble-free service. Non-corrosive high-tech material construction. Control valve timer can be programmed so the filter backwashes at any time of the day at intervals of every 1 to every 28 days, with once per week typical for most residential applications. The recommended flow rate for maximum filtration performance is 5.0 gallons per minute but peak flow rates of 18 gallons per minute are possible. The backwash flow rate is 5.0 gallons per minute. Dimensions: filter tank diameter: 10 inches; height including backwash control valve; 61-3/8 inches. Includes Clack permanganate solution tank with dimensions of 10-1/2" diameter and 16-1/4" height.
