Aeration System Includes:

  • Air Pump
  • complete vent tank with Maxi-Vent

  • Maxi-Vent System 230V air-pump and aeration of water.
  • Use prior to a MangOX, Filox or Birm media iron filter, or a Centaur Carbon backwash filter for excellent removal of odors, iron, manganese and sediment.
  • System operates on 230 voltage.
  • Can be utilized for flow rates up to 15 gallons per minute.
  • Quiet and reliable.
  • For residential and light commercial applications.
  • Maintains a head of air inside pressurize tank so water contacts air as water flow into air tank.
  • This includes an installation kit with a aluminum shelf to mount the compressor, two air check valves, pressure gauge, poly connectors with tubing and air regulator valve.

  • Tank diameter: 10 inches
  • Height: 54 inches

• Eliminate rotten-egg odor without chemicals

• Great for use with a backwashing carbon filter or Filox or Birm Iron Filter (NOT INCLUDED)

• Uses natural aeration to treat water

• Easy to service. Low maintenance.

• Free Shipping. Installation Guide included.

Q. Why would I want to use the Air Pump Vent Tanks with Maxi-Vent over the less-expensive in-line venturi-type air injectors?

A. Unlike in-line venturi-type air injectors, which depend on pressure drop to suck air into a stream of water, the compressor type Air Pump Vent Tanks can inject a higher quantity of air without restricting water pressure. Unlike in-line air-injectors, which require frequent cleaning and maintenance, these systems require less maintenance. A much higher level of hydrogen sulfide gasses can be removed with a Air-Vent Tank compressor compared to in-line air injectors. In-line air injectors depend on pressure drop to operate, which restricts flow and pressure to the house. The air compressor type does not restrict the water pressure and works much better.

Q. How will the Air Pump be activated?

A. The air pump can be activated by a flow switch or pressure switch.  Flow switches provide instant air input whenever water is flowing.  They may also be used at a remote installation away from pressure tank or other electrical connections. Air pumps can be activated every time the well pump turns on when connected to the pressure switch.

Q. What is oxidation?

A. Oxidation is the loss of electrons from the reducing agent (which is said to have “been oxidized” in the process).  Since electrons carry negative charges, oxidation results in an increase of positive valence. Oxidation reduces the number of electrons orbiting an element causing the element to bond with oxygen, which has an attraction for those electrons. For instance iron is typically found as ferrous iron, that is, "clear water iron". When dissolved oxygen is sufficiently present, the iron and oxygen bond together.  Soluble ferrous bicarbonate may be completely oxidized and changed to the insoluble ferric hydroxide precipitate, Fe (OH) 3, except when the water is acidic.  The insoluble ferric hydroxide is commonly described as “red water”.  When the iron is fully oxidized in alkaline water, iron readily precipitates. is dissolved in water. However, when exposed to oxygen the iron precipitates out of solution and can then be easily filtered with a backwashing filter.

Q. Do these systems come in different sizes?

A. Yes. The size of the filter system is directly proportional to the flow rate of the water, in gallons per minute. The higher the flow rate, the larger the system required. The standard systems work well for flow rates up to 15 gallons per minute. For higher flow rates, larger compressors and larger tanks are available.

Q. Can I install these air compressor pump systems outside?

A. No. The system should be installed indoors. It can withstand some room humidity but cannot be exposed to rain or weather.

Q. How much hydrogen sulfide will the Maxi-Vent Air Tank system remove?

A. Generally up to about 10 ppm. In some cases, a chlorine feed or a hydrogen peroxide feed pump can be installed ahead of the air-tank to achieve higher levels of odor destruction.

Q. What are the electrical requirements and specifications for the air pump compressor?

A. The air pumps are available in 115V or 230V. The 230v compressor uses about 2.1 amps of power. The pumps are 1/16 HP and have automatic thermal protection shut-off.

Q. What is the maximum line pressure the Air-Vent-Tank can be installed on?

A. 70 PSI is recommended maximum, but up to 100 PSI is possible.

Q. What maintenance is required?

A. Under the right conditions there is little maintenance. Once a year the diffuser stone in the tank can be cleaned with vinegar or muriatic acid. The air compressor is self-lubricating and never needs oil. The teflon compression cup inside the compressor should be replaced approximately every 12,000 hours of run time. The air compressor will run 20,000 hours before needing the bearings replaced. Since it only runs when the well pump is running, this means many years of expected life.

Q. What is maximum and minimum air temperature the system can withstand?

A. The compressor should not be used in temperatures less than 40F or over 100F.

Q. Is there a pressure loss through the system?

A. There is little pressure drop through the system. The pipe size is 1" and at 15 gallons per minute there is approximately a 5 PSI drop..

Q. Are these systems noisy?

A. No, they are not noisy. The average noise level is around 50 decibels less than a washing machine or electric shaver..

Q. Can I get assistance in choosing an iron filter system for my application?

A. Yes! You should first have your water tested, and then contact our technical staff for help on selecting the best iron filter system for your application. Also see our Custom Water System Design Questionnaire which makes it easy to help you select a system.
