Customer Story: Replacing an 18-Year-Old Whole Home Iron Filter (Austin’s Experience)

Real customers, real water problems, real results. This is Austin’s story.

The Problem: An 18-Year-Old Iron Filter That Finally Gave Out

Austin had been on well water for years. His iron filter system had done its job for nearly two decades, but like most things that age, it eventually started showing signs of failure — developing leaks and no longer removing iron from the water effectively. It was time for a replacement.

After researching his options, Austin found Clean Water Store and liked the idea of working with a company that could both test his water and provide the right system to fix it.

Austin’s Experience — In His Own Words

“I was looking for a quality whole home iron filter system and stumbled across your website. I liked the idea of having my water tested by the same company that could sell me the system to resolve my water issues.

My old system that you will see in the photos was around eighteen years old and was starting to develop some leaks and stopped removing the iron from our water.

The new system I purchased was well organized and arrived in perfect condition. The installation manual was great and answered all of my questions during the installation. I really appreciated the support and advice that was provided throughout the process.

The removal of my old filter and installation of the new took about a day for me to complete. The system seems very well made — my only thing I didn’t care for was the mount for my Ozone generator, which I chose not to use and attached mine to a board near the filter.

I can tell a huge improvement in our water quality since we installed the new filter. I’m very happy with this whole experience and really appreciate your company’s attention to detail!”

What Made the Difference

A few things stand out in Austin’s experience that are worth highlighting for anyone in a similar situation:

    • Testing first, then buying — Austin appreciated being able to work with a company that could analyze his water and recommend the right system based on actual results, not guesswork.
    • DIY-friendly installation — the full removal and installation took about one day with no professional plumber required. The documentation and support made that possible.
    • Immediate improvement in water quality — the results were noticeable right away. That’s what a properly sized and matched system does.

Is Your Iron Filter Due for a Replacement?

Most iron filter systems have a service life of 10 to 20 years depending on water quality, usage, and maintenance. If your system is aging, developing leaks, or no longer keeping up with iron or staining, it may be time to evaluate your options.

The right starting point is always a water test — so you know exactly what you’re dealing with before you invest in a new system.
