Adds hardness to water.<\/li>\n<li>Soda ash injection: Better for very low pH (below 6.0, especially under 5.0). Doesn\u2019t add hardness.<\/li>\n<li>Soda ash handles higher flow rates better than calcite tanks.<\/li>\n<li>Sodium hydroxide (lye) is another alkaline chemical but too dangerous for home use.
