Alkalinity Adjustment
Calculator

Analyze your water's alkalinity and calculate how much chemical is needed to raise it to an optimal level. Proper alkalinity buffers pH and prevents corrosion of pipes and fixtures.

What is alkalinity? Alkalinity is your water's ability to resist pH changes (buffering capacity). Water with low alkalinity has unstable pH that can swing dramatically. Even if your pH tests at 7.0, if alkalinity is below 40 mg/L, the pH can drop quickly when it contacts pipes, causing corrosion. The ideal range for residential well water is 80–120 mg/L as CaCO₃.
