Carbon 7500 Backwash Filter System
Removes Chlorine, Chloramines, Bad Tastes & Odors, & other Chemicals
- Removes chlorine, bad tastes & odors, and other chemicals.
- Removes low molecular weight organic compounds and their chlorinated by-products such as chloroform and other trihalomethanes (THM's).
- Removes chloramines with the optional Catalytic Carbon upgrade.
- High activity granular activated carbon is manufactured by steam activation from select coconut shell charcoal.
- Iodine Rating: minimum 1000 mg/g.
- Carbon has maximum hardness and is well suited for backwash applications.
- Corrosion Proof Ceramic disc auto backwash valve lasts years longer than standard piston-type control valves and can backwash over 150,000 cycles.
- Backwashes are based on the time (days of the week) or gallons used. More efficient backwashes that use less water.
- Automatic program recall after power outages and maximum day regeneration functions.
- Built-in battery back-up: Holds time after being shut off for 3 days. Holds program for 30 days or more.
- Exceptional High Flow Rate with noticeable noise reduction during regeneration.
- NSF-certified, one-piece, seamless poly filter tank for long life.
- Voltage 110v-230V Power Adapter. Control valve 12VDC. Uses less than 20 watts of power.
Frequently Asked Questions:
How do the Backwashing Carbon Filters remove chlorine and sediment from water?
The Backwashing Carbon Filter is a large filter canister filled with activated carbon media. Activated carbon removes chlorine in a chemical reaction that oxidizes the carbon surface. Chlorine tastes and odors are removed. Sediment down to 30 microns in size is also removed by mechanical filtration.
What maintenance is required with these backwashing filters?
Depending on the level of chlorine in the water, the carbon will need to be changed every 2 to 3 years. This is easily done without any special tools and costs between $100 and $300 depending on the size of the carbon filter.
How can I tell when it is time to change the carbon?
You can use a simple chlorine test kit to determine when chlorine is leaking through the carbon and change it when the media starts to wear out.
Can I install this system myself or do I need a plumber?
Most of our customers do install themselves, however it is easy for any plumber or handyman to install. Ordering the optional flex lines makes it very easy to hook up to your piping.
Will the Backwashing Carbon Filter reduce or remove chemicals other than chlorine?
Possibly, but it depends on the chemical and size of the carbon tank.
Contact our technical staff if you need to remove MTBE, TCE, or other organic compounds. These systems are not NSF or WQA certified and canโt be sold in states like California or Wisconsin that require certification. Many customers use our whole-house carbon filters to dechlorinate water for aquariums or reduce chlorine taste and odor.
I plan to inject hydrogen peroxide to get rid of the sulfur odor. What type of carbon should I use?
For peroxide applications, we recommend coconut shell catalytic activated carbon. Catalytic carbon is a special type of processed carbon that causes a reaction to occur on the surface of the carbon. This works much better than standard coconut shell carbon for removing hydrogen sulfide and other odors and is worth the higher price. It lasts longer and works better for peroxide applications.
What does Backwash Flow Rate Mean?
Your well produces a maximum amount of gpm. Many wells are less than 10 gpm, and you size the filter to match your available flow rate.
If you have a submersible pump with a pressure tank and switch, use this link to find your available flow rate.
I have questions, can I get help when ordering or when installing it?
Yes, we welcome your questions! We have a team of experienced water treatment specialists with many years of experience standing by Monday - Friday.

Sizing Guide
| Model (CF) | Number of Bath Rooms in Home | Max Flow Rate(GPM) | Backwash Flow Rate(GPM) | Dimensions |
| 0.5 | 1 | 3 | 3 | Diameter: 6" Height: 42" |
| 0.75 | 1 - 2 | 4 | 5 | Diameter: 8" Height: 51" |
| 0.75 Short | 1 - 2 | 4 | 5 | Diameter: 10" Height 37" |
| 1.0 | 1 - 2 | 5 | 5 | Diameter: 9" Height: 55" |
| 1.5 | 1 - 3 | 7 | 5 | Diameter: 10" Height: 61" |
| 2.0 | 2 - 3 | 10 | 7 | Diameter: 12" Height: 59" |
| 2.5 | 2 - 4 | 12 | 10 | Diameter: 13" Height: 61" |
| 3.0 | 2 - 5 | 15 | 12 | Diameter: 14" Height: 72" |
| 4.0 | 3 - 5 | 16 | 12 | Diameter: 16" Height: 72" |
For Larger Sizes 1.5 Cf And Up: Higher Flow Rates Are Possible If Contact Time Is Not An Issue.
For Example, To Remove Chlorine Tastes And Odors On City Water, 5 To 8 Gallons Per Minute Per Cubic Foot Of Carbon Works Fine Depending On Chlorine Levels.
However, If You Are Trying To Remove A Particular Chemical Such As PFOS Or Benzene, Lower Flow Rates With Longer Contact Time Are Recommended.
Add KDF Cubes To Extend Life Of Carbon And Achieve Higher Flow Rates
