Pro-OX Lite 7500-Rev4 Advanced Iron Filter Systems Remove Iron and Manganese from Well Water

  • The most effective filters for removing iron, rust, and sediment from well water.
  • Corrosion Proof Ceramic disc auto backwash valve lasts years longer than standard piston-type control valves and can backwash over 150,000 cycles.
  • It uses advanced Pro-OX Lite iron filter media (Pyrolox® Advantage by Vibrantz). Pro-OX Lite is lighter and backwashes with less water than the standard Pro-OX media.
  • Easily removes up to 5 PPM iron and 0.5 PPM manganese.
  • For higher iron, sulfur odor (hydrogen sulfide), iron bacteria, or manganese over 0.2 PPM, we recommend ozone or chlorine injection ahead of the iron filter.
  • Backwashes automatically on days you choose. More efficient backwashes that use less water.
  • Backwash flow: 12 gpm. Your well must supply at least 12 gpm during backwash.
  • Maximum flow rate: 9 gpm.
  • Automatic program recall after power outages and maximum day regeneration functions.
  • Quiet operation with noticeable noise reduction during regeneration.

  • Frequently Asked Questions:

Why would I need the optional Rusco spindown prefilter?

The spindown filter will remove any sand or grit that may be in your well water and protect the iron filter. Even though the ceramic disc valve is not affected by sand like piston and seal type control valves, it is good to keep sand out of your Pro-OX Lite iron filter.

Another advantage is that it can be used to sanitize your iron filter with chlorine bleach if you have iron bacteria. By adding a cup of bleach once a year to the spindown filter, and turning the water back on, the Pro-OX Lite media can be cleaned and sanitized. It only takes a few minutes and no chlorine gets in the house, as the filter is then put into backwash after sanitizing.

Can I use the optional air charger kit or ozone upgrade?

No. This short size does not have those options; the tank needs to be at least 44" tall. If you need extra oxidation, use ozone or chlorine injection ahead of the filter, or choose a taller model.

Can I install this system myself or do I need a plumber?

Most of our customers do install themselves, however it is easy for any plumber or handyman to install. Ordering the optional flex lines makes it very easy to hook up to your piping.

    What maintenance is required?

There is little or no maintenance required. If your water has iron bacteria you can add some chlorine bleach in the optional spindown filter, turn the water back on, and clean the Pro-OX Lite media with chlorine once or twice a year. This will remove any iron bacteria film and restore the media. Many customers go years with no maintenance. Eventually the Pro-OX Lite media can be dumped out and replaced after about 6 to 10 years.

Will this affect my water pressure?

No. The pressure drop at maximum flow rate is around 10 PSI. At regular flow rates such as used in the home, the pressure drop is 1 or 2 PSI and is not noticeable.

What does Backwash Flow Rate Mean?

Your well produces a maximum amount of gpm. Many wells are less than 10 gpm, and you size the filter to match your available flow rate. This filter needs at least 12 gpm during backwash.

    Sizing Guide

Model Number of Bathrooms in Home Flow Rate Backwash Flow Rate Dimensions
    1.0 CF 1 - 2 10 GPM 7 GPM Diameter: 9" Height: 55.5"
    1.5 CF 1 - 2 12 GPM 10 GPM Diameter: 10" Height: 61.5"
    2.0 CF 2 - 3 14 GPM 12 GPM Diameter: 12" Height: 59.5"
    2.5 CF 2 - 4 15 GPM 15 GPM Diameter: 13" Height: 61.5"

Flow Rate: Refers to maximum recommended Gallons Per Minute ("GPM") which means how fast the water is flowing. The 1.5 CF model works best for most homes (such as 2 -3 bathroom homes with 2 - 6 persons). However for homes with 2 - 4 persons, the 0.75 or 1.0 CF models work great. Higher flow rates are possible through these systems, this is just meant as a guide or suggested use.

"CF" refers to the amount of filter media blend in cubic feet. A 1.5 CF has 1.5 cubic feet of Pro-OX iron filter media (Pro-OX, Zeolite and filter gravel).

Removal Rate: Removes up to 5 PPM iron, .5 PPM manganese, much higher removal rates possible with pre-chlorination or pre-aeration.

Iron levels over 5 PPM, or when manganese or other conditions such low pH, high levels of sulfur odor or iron bacteria or tannins, please note that additional treatment such as chlorine, peroxide, or aeration may be needed.

Manganese removal: when manganese is present, we recommend a chlorine feed. A chlorine feed with a contact/retention tank allowing 30 seconds of time after the chlorine has been injected, followed by the Pro-OX filter systems does a GREAT job on removing manganese. A carbon filter can be used after the Pro-OX system to remove any residual chlorine, so you get all the benefits of chlorination without having any chlorine in the house water.

Hydrogen Sulfide Rotten Egg: if hydrogen sulfide is present and the water also contains iron we recommend a chlorine feed, and/or aeration prior to the Pro-OX system. Please contact us for more information if you need assistance.
