Pro-OX Lite Rev4 Iron Filters

Our most popular iron filter

The Rev4 is our most popular Pro-OX Lite system and the right fit for most homes. Its ceramic-disc control valve needs very little routine maintenance, backwashes by gallons used and/or days of the week, and comes with a bypass valve.

Add AIR (0.75 CF and up) when you also have sulfur odor or manganese, or ozone (1.0 CF and up) for sulfur odor or iron bacteria. Neither is available on the 13x30 short tank.

Pro-OX Lite Rev4 iron filter, 1.0 CF

What it treats

Our recommendations, based on your water test.

  • Standard system: up to 5 ppm iron and 0.3 ppm manganese.
  • With the AIR option (0.75 CF+): up to about 8 ppm iron and 0.5 ppm manganese. The valve keeps an air pocket at the top of the tank that oxidizes iron and removes sulfur odor.
  • With the ozone option (1.0 CF+) or a chlorinator (J-PRO-38): up to about 10 ppm iron and 1.0 ppm manganese, and iron bacteria.
  • Higher than that? High iron needs careful design. We design a custom system from your water test.

AIR and ozone are not available on the 13x30 short tank.

We recommend pH 7.0 or higher.

Send in a water test or book a call, and we'll recommend the right setup for your water.

Peak vs. continuous flow: Peak flow is what the filter handles in normal home use, where water runs in bursts (showers, laundry, faucets). Our bathroom ranges come from systems we've installed in real homes. Continuous flow is for long, steady draws, like filling a storage tank, irrigation, or running water for hours. If that's your use, size to the continuous flow, or call us with your water test.

Backwash Flow Rate: your well must supply at least this many GPM. Many wells make less than 10 GPM; size the filter to your well. Flow Rate Calculator

Short tank (13x30): for low ceilings; needs 12 GPM to backwash.

Why the Rev4

  • Ceramic components guaranteed for life. The valve manufacturer guarantees the ceramic components for life.
  • 5-year control valve warranty. On the Rev4 control valve.
  • Very little routine maintenance. The ceramic-disc valve has no piston and seals to service.
  • Bypass included. Full-port bypass valve with 1" connectors comes in the box.
  • Backwashes when needed. By gallons used and/or days of the week; keeps time and settings in a power outage.
  • AIR option. Choose AIR on 0.75 CF and up (+$109; not on 13x30 short tanks).
  • Ozone option. Choose ozone on 1.0 CF and up (+$795; not on 13x30 short tanks).

Options: AIR and ozone

AIR

0.75 CF and up+$109Not on 13x30 short tanks

We recommend the Air Charger add-on if you have manganese or sulfur odors (rotten egg smell) along with iron. The Air option allows the water to be aerated, which helps remove sulfur odor and gives you increased oxidation.

On the Rev4, clean the air injector once or twice a year (about 10 minutes, no special tools).

Ozone

1.0 CF and up+$795Not on 13x30 short tanks

Choose ozone for sulfur odor or iron bacteria.

Choose AIR or ozone in the options on the product page of the size you pick.

Considering hydrogen peroxide for sulfur odor? We recommend a contact tank after the peroxide injection, then a catalytic carbon filter ahead of the iron filter to remove leftover peroxide.

How Pro-OX Lite compares

In a standard 1.0 CF tank, Pro-OX Lite gets its full bed depth, doesn't change your pH, and needs no chemicals.

Questions

For manganese or sulfur odor (rotten egg smell) along with iron. See "Options: AIR and ozone" above for how it works.

Air is available on the Rev4 (0.75 CF and up, +$109; not on 13x30 short tanks).

The spindown filter removes sand or grit that may be in your well water. Keeping sand out protects the filter media and the control valve, whichever valve you choose.

Another advantage is that it can be used to sanitize your Pro-OX Lite iron filter with chlorine bleach if you have iron bacteria. By adding a cup of bleach once a year to the spindown filter, and turning the water back on, the Pro-OX Lite media can be cleaned and sanitized. It only takes a few minutes and no chlorine gets in the house, as the filter is then put into backwash after sanitizing.

Most of our customers do install themselves, however it is easy for any plumber or handyman to install. Ordering the optional flex lines makes it very easy to hook up to your piping.

The Rev4 includes a bypass valve.

The Rev4 uses a ceramic-disc valve that needs very little routine maintenance.

If you add AIR: on the Rev4, clean the air injector once or twice a year (about 10 minutes, no special tools).

At the maximum flow rate, expect about a 15 psi pressure drop; at normal household use it's less.

Your well produces a maximum amount of gpm. Many wells are less than 10 gpm, and you size the filter to match your available flow rate.

If you have a submersible pump with a pressure tank and switch, use this link to find your available flow rate.
