Should I add a Flow Switch, or should I choose a Proportional Flow Meter?
What size solution tank should I order?
There is usually no home well water application where the 50 gallon tank is needed.
Most of our customers use 1 to 2 gallons of chlorine solution per month.
There is no advantage to using a larger solution tank in most cases because the chlorine can go bad.
Mix up enough fresh chlorine solution to last for 3 months as chlorine can lose its strength over time.

What type of bleach should I use?
Do not use household laundry bleach, as it contains additives.
You can use liquid bleach as long as it is free of additives. We also sell chlorine granules and you can make up your own bleach but the cost is much higher than liquid bleach.
To use just add 1 oz of powder to 1 gallon of soft or purified water to make up your solution. Stores for up to 8 to 12 months in a cool dark dry location.
Should I use a contact retention tank?
- A contact tank provides contact time to kill bacteria, oxidize iron, odors etc.
- Provides settling of sand and grit.
- Use less chlorine
Should I use a static mixer?
Will I smell or taste the chlorine? What about my septic tank?
As an option you can use a low cost refillable carbon cartridge, or self-cleaning backwash carbon filter. The carbon whole house filters remove any trace of chlorine so no chlorine enters your household water or septic tank. A contact retention tank also reduces the amount of chlorine after injection as it gives a few minutes for the chlorine to do its job and dissipate.

3 Ways To Set Up Your Chlorinator To Turn On Automatically:

Option 1: WIRE TO WELL PUMP PRESSURE SWITCH
Wire to your well's pressure switch. This is the lowest cost method. Simply install a dedicated wall outlet that is wired into the existing pressure switch and powered up whenever the well pump turns on and off.
Option 2: PRE-WIRED FLOW SWITCH
Install a pre-wired flow switch. This makes it fast and easy. No electrician required or electrical wiring to do — any plumber or person familiar with basic plumbing can install the chlorinator.
Simply install the pre-wired flow switch. Plug the flow switch into a standard 120V wall outlet. Then plug the chlorinator pump into the electrical outlet on the flow switch. Whenever there is flow, the metering pump will turn on.
Option 3: PROPORTIONAL-FEED FLOW METER TYPE
Select the Pulse Water Meter option. This is a proportional-feed type of installation. It is very easy to set up and requires no licensed electrician to install. A flow meter with electrical cable connected to the J-PRO-38 pump is installed and triggers the chlorinator pump based on the flow of water.
When there is water flow through the meter, the chlorinator will trigger and a programmed amount of chlorine solution is injected into each gallon as it passes, regardless of flow rate.
Simply install the flow meter and connect the cable to the chlorinator pump. Plug the chlorinator pump into a standard 120V wall outlet. When water flows, the pump will inject more or less chlorine based on how fast the water is flowing.
NOTE: Unlike Options 1 and 2, the injection check valve is installed AFTER the pressure tank. This option also allows you to inject chlorine after a lateral line to irrigation or any line you do not want to treat.
What is the warranty? How long do these systems last?
- The system includes a one year manufacturer warranty.
- You can usually expect 4 to 6 years life however all components are serviceable and replaceable.
- Use purified or soft water to make up your chlorine solution and follow recommended routine maintenance for best results.
Can I install this myself? Can I have my plumber or handyman install it?
- Yes, you can install it yourself, however a local plumber or handyman can also install it for you.
- In addition to the easy to read manual, we also have youtube videos that walk you through the installation below.
- To make it easier for a plumber or handyman to install we recommend the optional Schedule 80 PVC Injection Tee (see drop down menu).
- If you want to avoid having to do any wiring we recommend the proportional feed or flow switch options.
- The chlorinator typically takes about 2 - 3 hours to install.

Tank-size recommendation: The 15-gallon or 25-gallon tank is recommended for most home well-water applications. Most residential systems do not require the 50-gallon tank. Prepare only enough fresh chlorine solution to last approximately three months because chlorine gradually loses strength during storage.
Calibration note: Actual chemical output can vary with line pressure, suction lift, solution viscosity, tubing condition, and pump settings. Calibrate the pump after installation by measuring its actual output under normal operating conditions. Verify free chlorine residual after the contact tank using a chlorine test strip after calibration.

1 Year Warranty from date of delivery
If your pump fails under warranty, please call or email our office to obtain a Returns Good Authorization Number before sending us back the pump for repair or replacement under the warranty. No returns can be accepted without an RGA number. The warranty covers repair and/or replacement of the metering pump but not shipping costs.
While defects are rare, we do our best to respond to warranty returns as fast as we can. Please allow 3 to 5 business days after the pump has been returned for your pump to be repaired or a new one supplied under the warranty agreement. If the water supply and its continuous chlorination are critical, a back-up chlorinator pump should be on hand. Shipping charges are not covered under warranty. Any expedited shipping (overnight, 2-day, etc.) is the customer's responsibility.
Conditions Not Covered by the Warranty:
Power surges or outages that cause pump failure are not covered under warranty. Surge protection is strongly recommended. If a pump is returned for warranty replacement and the cause of failure is determined to be from a voltage spike, the pump does not qualify for replacement. This is the leading cause of failure. Pump failure during, or because of, power failure is not covered under warranty.
This pump is intended for indoor use only. The pump must never be exposed to freezing temperatures, direct sunlight, or rain. If the cause of failure is determined to be from exposure to any of these environments, the pump does not qualify for replacement and will not be covered under warranty.
